Prior to 2015, Taft Construction Group (TCG) was known as Waterford Contracting.  It served as the vehicle for Taft Development Group to build commercial real estate in-house, without the expense and loss of control associated with the use of a third party general contractor.  Beginning in 2015, TCG began operating as a profit-generating entity for Taft Family Ventures, under the direction of Tom Taft, Sr. serving as Chairman of the Board, Glenn Crum as President, and Thomas F. Taft, Jr, Mike McCarty and Jonathan G. Taft as Vice Presidents.

Since its formation, TCG has built of over 3,000 residential units across the Carolinas, totaling more than $350 million in construction cost, all of which were delivered on time and within budget.
